Why is everyone so angry?
In a sport filled with nonsensical conversations, the discourse surrounding the first round of the 12-team Playoff set a new low.
There are dumb conversations that happen in college football. And then there’s what happened this past weekend.
We don’t need to pick every bloviator’s opinion apart one by one, we just need to address some facts:
Yes, the first four games of the 12-team College Football Playoff were duds.
And yes, this is pretty much what was supposed to happen.
Don’t believe us? Check your history books.
The four-team Playoff gave us 30 total games across those 10 years.
A grand total of 10 of them were decided by one possession or fewer.
The average margin of victory: 18.6 points, which is right on par with this past weekend’s showing (19.25 points).
If you think this only applied to semifinal matchups, think again.
