Week Zero picks: Power 5 teams look to assert their dominance early
Welcome to the first installment of our weekly picks column. Good luck.
The season is finally here. Some folks may say the 2023 campaign doesn’t officially start until next week, but don’t tell that to Scott Frost or anyone else who has been on the wrong end of an August defeat. (Or, in this case, the gamblers who lose money before Week 1.)
Three Power 5 teams play Saturday, two of which are ranked. Navy and Notre Dame get us started across the pond in Dublin at 2:30 ET on NBC, so that’s the game we’ll start with.
We’ll make three picks every week, and we’ll keep score here. We will shop around for the best lines, and we will not limit ourselves to simple game lines or over-unders. Playable player props, quarter lines, half lines and the like are acceptable.
