Week 12 picks: To the home stretch we go
Saying goodbye is hard. There could be quite a few of those "goodbye" situations, both good and bad, in Week 12.
Five Nebraska turnovers — and still only half of a point! — kept us from going perfect last week.
Let’s rectify that this week.
USC -6.5 vs. UCLA (consensus). Is this Caleb Williams’ last college game? Is this Chip Kelly’s last UCLA game? The fact we are asking both of those questions doesn’t bode well for the reeling Bruins. I am told that Kelly’s job is safe for now but that could change with a big loss to the rival Trojans. For all of USC’s faults, Williams has again been spectacular, as he is second nationally in passing yards, passing touchdowns and rushing TDs (among QBs). The defense isn’t great, but it wasn’t awful at Oregon after firing Alex Grinch. UCLA’s offense, meanwhile, is awful, scoring 17 total points the last two weeks. Expect Williams to go out with a bang, as this is USC’s last regular-season game and there is no guarantee the future first-round pick will play in a bowl game.
