Sources: Big Ten declares forfeits for Northwestern women's basketball games at UCLA, USC
The Wildcats did not fly to L.A. in January due to concerns over the area's wildfires.
The Big Ten’s two-best women’s basketball teams just got another win apiece.
USC and UCLA have been granted wins by the conference against Northwestern by forfeit, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told The Inside Zone, more than one month after the Wildcats announced that they would not travel to Los Angeles to play either team for its scheduled games due to concerns surrounding the area’s wildfires at the time.
Northwestern had been scheduled to play at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion on Jan. 12 and at USC’s Galen Center on Jan. 15. The Wildcats released a two-paragraph statement on Jan. 10 stating that they would not travel to the area for the games.
