Ohio State beats Michigan, ends the streak and now eyes history
Ryan Day can exhale. The Buckeyes' defense is the biggest reason why.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — They’d made it all the way down to the first few rows, filling up the seats surrounding the Lloyd Carr Tunnel and shouting every pro-Ohio State chant you could imagine.
Yet minute after minute had passed, and this sea of red was left shouting to no one.
Where was the losing home team to boo on its way off its own field? Once that task was out of the way, then the Buckeyes faithful could shower its scarlet and grey heroes in adulation after a six-year wait.
Turns out Michigan, like last year, was surrounding midfield. This time, however, the Wolverines were guarding their own logo at the 50, not planting a flag in their opponents’.
It was perhaps their biggest stand of the day.
And, as it would turn out, wholly unnecessary, too.
Ohio State out-classed Michigan in pretty much every facet on Saturday, sucking the life out of the Big House with a 27-9 win that resembled most of the Buckeyes’ victories this season.
