No complacency here: No. 2 Oregon continues to look like a championship contender.
The Ducks dominated Purdue after a quick turnaround, reminding the Big Ten of their might presence.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Back in July, Oregon announced its arrival to this state, and to this conference, by plotting a giant inflatable duck in Indianapolis’ White River. Big Ten media days were underway at nearby Lucas Oil Stadium, and Dan Lanning issued something of a warning.
“Ultimately, what should the Big Ten know about Oregon?” the third-year Ducks coach said then. “We're mighty different, mighty different in a lot of ways. You look out there in the pond, you'll see a big old duck. I hope we get to travel that duck to all our away games this year.”
No inflatable duck was at Ross-Ade Stadium on Friday. The duck mascot was here, though. So, too, were a good amount of fans in green and yellow.
As for Oregon’s players? Good luck convincing them to swallow all of the rat poison that came their way after a monumental win over Ohio State just six days earlier.
The No. 2 Ducks did what championship contenders are supposed to do, beating Purdue 35-0 in a game that wasn’t even that close.
