Michigan gets the best of Ohio State again in hiring Tony Alford
This doesn't quite make Sherrone Moore 2-0 vs. Ryan Day just yet, but it sure feels like it.
This is how you lose a PR war at a time when you need all of the goodwill you can get.
This is what happens when you don’t appreciate one of your most valuable assets.
This is how you make yourself vulnerable to poaching from a first-time head coach who has already beaten you once on the field.
So score another victory for Sherrone Moore over Ryan Day, now that Michigan is set to hire Tony Alford away from Ohio State.
Yes, that means that the Wolverines, just days after saying goodbye to the greatest rusher in program history in running backs coach Mike Hart, somehow managed to upgrade both on the field and in the narrative department by replacing the legendary Hart with Alford, strengthening their own operation while dealing a blow to their biggest rival.
This isn’t a fourth straight loss for Ohio State against Michigan, but it sure feels like it.
Alford spent nine years with the Buckeyes across two different head-coaching regimes, an eternity in this day and age of college football.
Seriously: When Alford joined Ohio State, his new Michigan boss, Moore, was a 29-year-old tight ends coach at Central Michigan.
That’s how long Alford’s Buckeyes tenure was.
