We just couldn’t have a normal Week 1, could we?
1. The ending of Western Michigan-Michigan was egregious. Absolutely egregious.
2. And no, I’m not just talking about Michigan students storming the field after beating a MAC team, although between getting to experience that win and not receiving letter grades this year, those freshmen in Ann Arbor sure are having themselves a rewarding college experience, huh?
3. Even if everything that the Big Ten put out early Sunday morning is kosher — and here I will give the league office props for revealing as much as they did — it still doesn’t explain or excuse just how out of sync NBC’s clock was from the game clock.
4. This, among many other shots fired, is what MAC commissioner Jon Steinbrecher said about power conferences back at his league’s spring meetings: “I’m not sure if the right response to all of this is ‘be careful for what you ask for because you may get it’ or B, ‘karma’s a b***h’ because we’re now living with what happens when the autonomy conferences make the rules.”
