Fortuna Files: The season is here, and so are our predictions

The season is finally here, which means it’s time to get some of my wild predictions in writing. (If for no other reason than to have you all make fun of me later.)

Given that this is the first year of the 12-team College Football Playoff, we’ll stick to the good stuff and simply predict the field and the results, along with some other bold general predictions for good measure.

Seeds 1-4 (First-round byes)

1. Ohio State (Big Ten champion)

2. Georgia (SEC champion)

3. Clemson (ACC champion)

4. Utah (Big 12 champion)

First-round matchups

12. Liberty (G5 champion auto-bid) at 5. Notre Dame (ineligible for a bye)

11. Miami at 6. Alabama

10. Penn State at 7. Texas

9. Ole Miss at 8. Oregon

(Just-missed: Kansas State, Iowa, Tennessee, Boise State)
