Fortuna Files, season preview edition: Get ready for the last season of its kind

This is the last year of the four-team Playoff, and the last year of the Big Ten, SEC and Pac-12 as we know it. What kind of surprises are in store?

The 2023 college football season is two days away. Notre Dame and Navy kick things off overseas in Dublin on Saturday, highlighting a seven-game Week Zero slate that features two AP preseason top-25 teams in action.

After the offseason this sport has had, we could sure use some actual football games, no?

So, with our attention fully focused on the field, here’s one man’s guess at how the season will unfold. I’ve picked every conference title game, every conference player of the year and every major postseason honor, along with making three bold predictions and giving my reasoning behind each.
